I just got off the phone with Cheryl Wacker Spangler, who’s the director of the Harrisburg City Library in Oregon. Recently, I have been mailing boxes of snacks to my librarian friends across America. Cheryl informed me that a group in the area was inspired by the salty egg yolk cookies I mailed to the library, and they decided to form a club where they got to taste various food items around the world and look them up to see where they came from. I was so impressed and I was thinking how awesome this was! I told Cheryl that I was going to donate $5 for the library mural, so that they can add my name on the wall and I am also receiving a letter to recognize my contribution and to thank me for sending a snack item that inspired a group to start a club where people can taste various food items from around the world and find out the origin of the item. Maybe if I become rich and famous one day, I can donate a million dollars so that the city of Harrisburg can open a new library for its residents and honor a room in my name! I recommended that if the people loved those cookies I sent and craved more Asian goodies, they should visit the 99 Ranch Market in Beaverton or the SF Supermarket in Portland.
I am so proud of myself for being able to inspire a group of people to form a creative club doing something so unique just by sending them a snack item from my family’s shop! Woohoo!!
